Curbside Pickup is Here!

Finally! We can do what we do best, and that’s get fresh titles into your hands which means we have staff back in the branches and circulating material! Although you cannot browse the aisles, and flick through the pages at the magazine stands, you can find everything you need in our online catalogue. If you haven’t had a chance to do curbside pick-up yet, it’s as simple as a phone call, email, or placing a hold online. All you need is your library card number. Pickup is available at the Millbrook Branch Tuesdays 2pm – 7pm, Wednesday to Saturday from 11am – 3pm. The Bruce Johnston Branch will provide pick up on Tuesdays 2pm – 7pm, and Thursdays and Saturdays 11am-3pm. We have been receiving new material during our closure and there are many exciting new books and DVDs. What’s on your ‘To Read/ Watch List’?

Our Book Sale has moved online. Last month we ran a pilot project on Facebook, where we offered curated bundles of five books for five dollars. Participants were instructed to comment “mine” directly on the photo of the bundle they were interested in and then were contacted to arrange curbside pickup. We will begin running our Five for Five starting in June. Follow us on our Facebook page to get the scoop on the next sale. This is a great way for us to continue our book sale which is a big part of our annual fundraising.

This year summer reading is more important than ever for students. The CMLibraries would like to position itself to assist local students in finding their love of reading, thinking critically about the content, and sharing their great reads with others! Students can register for a library card online through our E-Resources page. At the end of every summer we offer prizes to those who have read the most, this year we are asking participants to write, make videos, draw, and share book reviews in an effort to spread their love of reading with peers. Those participating will have access to weekly grab and go activities, online book chats, guest speakers and online workshops, plus more to come! Register via email or phone starting June 15th (705 932 2919 or outreach@cmlibraries.ca).

A quick reminder we have many E-Resources available online, and can set you up with a temporary library card number if needed. We have e-magazines, audio books, e-books, read aloud storybooks, Ancestry Library Edition, movies, TV shows, and more! To make searching for items simpler, all of the books available on Overdrive (Libby), Kanopy and Ebsco have been added to the library catalogue. We are working to add Hoopla to the search as well. Instead of having to look at each resource separately, you can check the library catalogue and from there follow the links to the item you want. If you are aware of anyone in the community who might be feeling isolated due to lack of technology you can then call the library @ 932 2919 to discuss options. Leave a message and we will get back to you.

We are hosting a Facebook Live story time every Thursday and Friday @ 10:15am and a bilingual story time on Saturdays at 10:15am, be sure to like and follow us on Facebook so you can easily find the video. For those who are missing the in-person contact with Melanie, she is offering a new 15 minute one-on-one story time via Facebook messenger, contact Melanie at outreach@cmlibraries.ca to schedule a time, please note that limited spots are available.

If you have any questions or requests for materials or services, we invite you to call us during the times posted above, or visit our website for more details: cavanmonaghanlibraries.ca
