Cooperative Bidding Allows More Roadwork This Season

This year, Township Public Works joined the County in its tendering process for the major road projects this season in a cooperative bidding process. In doing so, they have secured early contracts at lower than anticipated costs, leaving $117,000 in the Surface Treatment component of the 2017 Capital Budget available for other projects. During the February 21st Council meeting, Director of Public Works Wayne Hancock asked that Council allocate these funds to a variety of other township road treatments which will be delivered at the already negotiated price per kilometer outlined in the contract with Royal Paving.

Sections of the following roads will be treated this year: King George, Elizabeth, Miller, Mill, and Blue Jay streets, Alexander Drive, Plains Circle, Carmel Crescent, Hutchison Drive, as well as Morton, Syer, Sharpe and Larmer lines. The works will include the removal of existing surface, re-gravelling, clearing, grubbing and re-ditching where necessary and new double surface treatment. KG
