Community Volunteer of the Year Marion Guthrie

Marion Guthrie shows her enthusiasm at a St. Patrick’s Day luncheon.

Marion has been an enthusiastic volunteer with Millbrook Community Care for 19 years, contributing a minimum of eight hours each week to seniors in the area.  She can usually be found behind the counter in the New-to-You shop but also hosts seniors coffee clubs, helps out at the organization’s monthly luncheon events and generally responds to needs as they arise.

She not only contributes to the organization, she participates in their programs as well, and is a regular attendee at Community Care’s Falls Prevention exercise program.  Staying fit is key to Marion’s health. A widow for many years, she continues to live on her own in her house in Millbrook.  The social interaction with her colleagues and clients through Community Care has also helped her stay young at heart.

Marion provides a great role model for volunteerism in our community and is an inspiration to her neighbours young and old.  Thank you, Marion! KG
