They’re off!  After several meetings, the Cavan Monaghan Community Centre Fundraising Committee is getting ready to kick off their fundraising efforts for the new community centre.   This committee is a collection of volunteers from parts of the community who have taken on the responsibility for raising the $1 million dollars needed for the completion of the new Community Centre in Millbrook, scheduled to open in August 2019.

The fundraising effort, referred to as the CMCC Project, is being led by Co-Chairs Dorothea Hines and Matthew Graham.  According to Graham, “A new, beautiful, multi-use facility has been long overdue and is going to be an exciting project great thing for the local community to enjoy.”

The magnitude of the fundraising goal is not lost on the committee, but there are many local events and fundraising ideas that are already taking shape.  “The old saying ‘it’s takes a village’ is very much true to the effort it will take to raise the money we need to make a great facility, luckily, we have an entire township” said Graham.

With the rapid growth the community is about to experience as new developments come on stream, the need for a new community centre is only going to rise.  All donations to the CMCC Project in excess of $20 are entitled to a full tax receipt.  Be on the lookout for the green CMCC Project logo throughout the community and at local events in the township.
