Every year, Peterborough city and county schoolchildren are asked to write essays about why their grandparents are the best, and a committee picks the best entries.
Local winner with Honourable Mentions in the junior category include Dan Duerden, grandparent of Olivia Onafrychuk a grade 6 student at Millbrook South Cavan Public School.
The awards were presented at Royal Gardens by Michelle Mclean, chair of the Community Care board, along with Mayor Daryl Bennett and Warden J. Murray Jones. KG
