Keeping Perspective

As he lay fading away at PRHC, our late friend and neighbour Allan Bigelow wished for one last walk along the road facing his property on Larmer Line. It’s the simple things that resonate so deeply as the end of a life approaches, and so I understand that more clearly with the passing of my father yesterday. The extensive travels and homes in distant countries were fond memories, but yesterday he wished for one more afternoon on our back porch “supervising nature”, as he described it. As we head into the summer, we might remember to appreciate the small moments with those you love. This perspective could help us enjoy the small pleasures in life that in the end matter more than the grand events, and they happen a lot more frequently.
