Christmas in the Village Switches it Up This Year

This much-anticipated event hosted by the Millbrook BIA is returning to the village with an entirely new format. It will be an all-day event taking place on Saturday, December 7th.

The day kicks off with a Breakfast with Santa at the Millbrook Legion with sittings at 8:30 and 10:30 am.  Fill up at the buffet with pancakes, sausages and fruit.  Tickets must be purchased in advance to make sure Santa knows who’s coming. Play some games and get your photo taken with the big guy, and show your holiday spirit by bringing an unwrapped toy or gift to contribute to the Legion Toy Drive.  The traditional horse drawn wagons will be on hand in the morning for breakfast customers only.

From noon until 5pm, the downtown will feature a Merry Marketplace with local shops hosting holiday specials, local restaurants and food trucks keeping visitors fed and vendor booths lining the street with artisan products, baked goods and crafts from local producers.  Kids and caregivers are invited to drop into the Nexicom Building (the former Town Hall) where there will be cookies and craft activities

Make a permanent record of the event with a mini-photo session by the mill pond with Amanda Marlin Photography.  Sessions cost $150 for 15 digital prints and must be booked by December 6th.  Contact the photographer at amandamarlinphotograph@gmail.com.

Don’t miss the Tree Lighting Ceremony at 5pm when the big tree in front of the Legion will come alive and celebrated with carols.  Bring an ornament to make your contribution to the splendour of the tree.

Outdoors local vendors will be offering a variety of treats including fudge, maple syrup and preserves.  For dinner, visit one of the local restaurants or stop in at the Legion which will be serving up a hot roast beef dinner with all the trimmings from 5 to 7pm for $20 per person.

While enjoying the festivities, be sure to keep the best of our local tradition of supporting our community by adding a contribution to the donation bins for Millbrook Food Share on the street.  Get out there and get into the holiday spirit with friends and neighbours at this popular local tradition brought to us by our local BIA merchants.  Enjoy!  KG
