Christmas Hampers and Stockings Bring Holiday Cheer at Millbrook and District Food Share

Millbrook and District Food Share volunteers are getting organized for this year’s Christmas Hamper program which distributes hampers each year to local families. Hampers are prepared for registered recipients and include non-perishable food items, fresh local produce and a protein voucher for Foodland. Please note that vouchers for children will not be provided this year as we continue to concentrate on providing food.

Hampers are available only to those who register. Registration takes place from November 1 to November 30, either by phone or in person at Food Share during their regular hours.  To register by phone, call 705 932 7066 and leave a message indicating the number of children in the family.  Hampers will be available for pick up on December 21st at the Food Share during regular hours.

This year, hampers will be supplemented by Christmas stockings through a program organized by Food Share Volunteer Lori Lazaros and Stacey Knight of Blank Canvas and Art Studio.   Residents can adopt a child aged 15 and under from a list prepared by Food Share volunteers indicating the age and gender of the recipients.  Participants are invited to select their recipient(s) and pick up an empty stocking at Blank Canvas located at 12 King St, East. Stockings should be filled with new, unwrapped items totalling in a $40 value and returned to the studio by Friday, December 15th in order for them to be handed out with the Christmas hampers on Thursday, December 21st.  For more information, contact Stacey at 705-991-2887 or by email at fortheluvofhair@gmail.com, or watch for flyers in the downtown area.

Please note that the Food Share will be closed on December 26 but will reopen Tuesday January 2nd, 2024.
