Christmas Comes to the Village on December 6th

Once again the Millbrook BIA is hosting this popular event, giving the community an early taste of the season.  Back again is a procession into town, but this year the departure point is the Old Millbrook School.   Bring a flashlight and get there by 5:45 to join Mrs. Claus and the Community Choir as they form a musical procession down King Street into the village.  Cheer on Mrs. Claus as she lights up the giant Christmas tree in front of the Legion at 6:15 pm.

In the village you can take a sleigh ride around town in traditional horse-drawn sleighs provided by Earle Cochrane and Bob Lunn from 5 to 9 pm, and be sure to drop into Nexicom’s offices at the old town hall offices to get your photo taken with a special guest with a $10 donation to our local food bank.

Find inspiration for your own gingerbread creations strolling through the Masonic Lodge where all entries from local school children will be in display.  Support your favourite entry with a ballot before you leave.

Get into the Christmas spirit and strike a few people off your Christmas gift list as you browse through the interesting offerings in our local shops or at the Christmas market where you will find local vendors offering preserves, baked goods, maple products and hand-knitted gifts made with love.  While you’re shopping, the kids can join a game of street hockey, snow soccer, or build a snowman, weather permitting.  For the creative type, the Old Millbrook School Family Centre will host a craft activity in the Nexicom building.  Entertainment for the evening includes seasonal songs by the Community Choir and a 7pm the Puppet Tamer will give us a show on the street.

Keep up your energy levels with food from street vendors or have a more substantial meal at the Legion, Moody’s Bar & Grill, the Pastry Peddler, Jule’s Kitchen, Subway or Bewdley Pizza.

Before the evening wraps up, be sure to keep the best of our local tradition of supporting our community by adding a contribution to the donation bins for Millbrook Food Share on the street.  Get out there and get into the holiday spirit with friends and neighbours at this popular local tradition brought to us by our local BIA merchants.  Enjoy!  KG
