Get ready, folks, the Fair is coming!

Events kick off on Thursday June 8th with educational exhibits running from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm throughout the fairgrounds located on Frederick St. in Millbrook, and continue to Sunday 11th.  This will be the 172nd version of the Millbrook Fair, each one hosted by the volunteers of the Millbrook Agricultural Society.  Gates open to the main event at 5pm, with the midway rides beginning an hour later.  The official opening of the Fair begins at 6:45 when the Millbrook Fair Ambassador will be crowned, followed by the first of four evening events showcasing machine muscle and might in the Truck and Tractor Pull featuring vintage trucks and tractors.

A full day of events is scheduled for Saturday, beginning with the 4-H Beef Cattle Show and the Petting Pal Zoo, followed by the opening of the midway and the new Archery Tag game.  The Fair Parade leaves the Old Millbrook Arena at 11:30, winding its way to the fairgrounds where some of the entries will earn a prize.

The afternoon events continue with the Antique Tractor Pull, a Diversity of Living Things presentation from the Keepers and the Open Beef Show.  Free wagon rides will be provided by Highview farms on Saturday afternoon from noon to 4pm.

An interactive farm education exhibit will be on hand provided by Durham Farm Connections each day, and don’t forget to check out the homecraft displays and perhaps pick up one of the entries at the Sunday afternoon bake auction.

Each evening features a pull event, where visitors can enjoy the noisy competition while in these popular displays of friendly rivalry between big powerful rigs and their drivers while taking advantage of the refreshments on offer at the Trackside Lounge.

The Open Horse show takes place on Sunday morning, followed by the 4×4 Tough Truck competition.  The events wind up with the ever popular demolition derby on Sunday afternoon where crashes are the whole point.  Things are going to get loud!

Thank you to all the volunteers whose months of work allow the community to enjoy the Fair tradition. For more details, visit www.millbrookfair.ca.  See you there!  KG
