Cavan Resident Snags Gold in Canadian Horseshoe Pitching

Ray Roseboom of Stewart Line in Cavan earned his second gold medal at the Canadian Horseshoe Pitching Championship in St. Stephen, New Brunswick last month.  This was his second gold title after taking the honours first in the 2009 event.The action culminated on the last day of play, when Ray had to win two games to clinch the title, which he did in the first 3 matches.

Ray was one of ten players from the Peterborough Horseshoe club who walked away with gold medals in their respective divisions, including Jane Garton, Betty Durham and Mark Millions.  Congratulations to all the players!

The Peterborough Horseshoe Club was formed in 1973 and operates out of the Peterborough Naval Association on Lansdowne Street.  There are recreational as well as competitive leagues operating on the recently renovated, well lit, pits for night-time play.   For more information about the league, call 705-742-3713.
