Art in the Library Fall 2019

Two new shows are lined up for mid-fall at the Otonbabee-South Monaghan Public Libraries:

  1. ‘Dot. Dot. Dot.’, oil paintings by Marie Adamcryck, are on display at Bailieboro Public Library with Val Crowley’s travel photographs.
  2. Carolanne Nadeau’s mixed media art and Val Crowley’s travel photographs are hanging at the Keene Public Library.

VON Smart Group Exercise Program (For Seniors age 55 plus)

Thursdays starting Sept. 12 to Nov. 28, 2019 and  Jan. 16 to April 23, 2020 at St. John’s Anglican Church,  Ida at 9:30-10:30 a.m. A fun and gentle exercise program to improve, strengthen the balance and maintain the flexibility , decrease fall risk of seniors.  No floor or mat work, walkers and wheel chairs welcome. Millbrook/Cavan United Church Meat Pies: 

Available: 3rd Monday October and November, then January to June 2020 inclusive.

Orders: To be made by 2nd Sunday of month.

Location: Lion’s Den, Cty. Rd.10/Larmer Line.

Pick up time: 9:00 -11:00 AM.

Cost: 1 doz. $30.00, 1/2 Doz.  $15.00.

Community Care Millbrook – Services and Events

Addictions? Millbrook Serenity Group Meetings: Fridays at 8pm at the Millbrook Christian Assembly Church, 71 King St. W.,  Come for a 12 step recovery program addressing drugs, sex / porn, alcohol, gambling, food, etc. All are welcome. For more info, contact Jim at 416-320-5040.

Zumba Gold with Jasmine: Every Friday (starts May 24th) at 8:45am at St. Thomas Anglican Church.

Mat Yoga: Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:15 at St. Thomas Anglican Church

Blood Pressure Clinic:  Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 10:30 at the Millbrook Manor, 12:30 pm at the Millbrook Legion.

New to You Clothing Store:  Open 9am to 3pm Monday to Friday at Community Care, 22 King St,, Millbrook.  Please consider donated good quality used clothing.

Activities – Children & Youth

Girls Guides’ season starts this month: Sparks – ages 5 to 6 – Tuesday evening starting Sept 24 6:30 to 7:30 pm; Brownies – 7 to 8 – Tuesday evening starting  Sept 24 6:30 to 7:30 pm; Guides – 9 to 11 – Monday evening starting Sept 23 – 6:30 to 8:00 pm; Pathfinders – 12 to 14 – Monday evening starting Sept 23 – 6:30 to 8:00 pm.  The first meeting is for information,  Members can try out for 2 weeks before registering.  All meetings located at St. Thomas Anglican Church on Centre St. Millbrook. Rangers – 15 to 17 – will meet Thursday Sept 26  will meet at St. Thomas Anglican Church in Millbrook/Westdale United Church in Peterborough every two weeks . Old Millbrook School Family Centre Programs:

New to the family centre is a monthly Drop-in specifically for families and children who experience sensory processing challenges. Sensory Sensitive Fridays will be offered the third Friday of each month from 9:00am – 11:30am.

All families are welcome to our usual Drop-in days. We do, however, realize that we need to also offer a Drop-in like as this where families with children with sensory processing challenges can also connect with other families who may have similar experiences.

Weekly Stroller Walk: Join other parents and caregivers on a stroller walk through the community.  Meet at 10 am on Wednesday mornings in the parking lot at the Old Millbrook School where we set off together.

La Leche League Breastfeeding Information and Support:  The third Wednesday of the month from 11 am to 1pm, come and share your breastfeeding and parenting experience and get one-on-one breastfeeding help from certified leaders.

Stay n’ Play Drop-In Hours:  Tues, Thurs, 9 am to 2 pm, Sundays 9:30am-1pm, at the Old Millbrook School Family Centre, 1 Dufferin St, Millbrook (below library).  Free. All children & caregivers welcome.

Family Centre Drop-in Gym:  2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 9:30 – 11:00 In the Dorothy Stevens Room.

Rhyme Time!/Music + Movement: Every Monday from 10:00-11:00am at Centennial Place, 2 Centennial Lane, Millbrook

Cavan Monaghan Libraries: Storytime:  Storytime 2.0 Thursdays at 10 am at the Bruce Johnston Branch and Fridays in Millbrook at 10 am.  For ages 6 mths. to 5 yrs. & caregivers.
