Kawartha Artists Gallery & Studio association of Plein Air artists visited the newly opened Cavan Art Gallery on June 2nd. The Gallery hosted 16 of the artists who enjoyed painting on the grounds and seeing all the many kinds of unique and original artworks, as well as also visiting Galerie Q for a Tea and Tour in the afternoon since they are only 4 doors away.
Renovations are finally finished at Valerie Kent’s Cavan Art studio. The walls of the main floor gallery are now covered with art including some remarkable work from a local photographer and some of her own work, all offered for sale at accessible prices.
After spending time getting to know the community providing print making and art classes to local students, Kent is now ready to receive some willing students into her art school. Her Art Camp is open for business this summer, and she is offering weeklong art programs in her Children`s Summer Art Camp. Each week is planned with a complete curriculum designed around a theme and is delivered by professional artists. For special celebrations, Cavan Arts will host parties for children through to teens incorporating art activities that are customized and age appropriate, ranging from face painting, stick on tattoos, party favours, and nail art.
The artistic opportunities are not only for the kids. Kent has a variety of workshops scheduled covering topics such as watercolour, abstracts, printing and mixed media collages.
