Whew! October was a busy month for us at the CMLibraries. We were able to host eight events for our Seniors Community Grant, participate in the BIA Fall Festival and the Meet Your Match Volunteer Fair at the Cavan Monaghan Community Centre, host a Tea Party & Silent Auction at our Millbrook Branch and host Pumpkin Decorating during the PA Day. Not to mention our regularly scheduled children’s and adult programming.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Cody & Kelsie’s Veggy Patch for donating 20 pumpkins to our pumpkin decorating activity. We had a great turn out and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. We would also like to thank everyone who came to our Tea Party and who participated in our Silent Auction. The funds raised will go to the continuation of remaining a fine free library.
While November will be calmer than October, we still have a variety of exciting events coming up. As part of our tween/teen programming, join Rachel at our Bruce Johnston Branch on Tuesday, November 5th from 4:30-6:30pm to learn how to play Dungeons & Dragons. We are also hosting a Clay Workshop at our Bruce Johnston Branch on Tuesday, November 19th at 4:30pm where we will be making Christmas ornaments. Please pre-register by visiting our website or by calling our Millbrook Branch.
When it comes to crafty groups, we have you covered. Now that the weather is finally starting to get cold, it is time to stay inside with a fun project. We will be going on another road trip to Tracy’s yarn store, “A River of Yarn” on Monday, November 11th at 10:00am. Check out the knitting and crochet yarns, tools, and accessories that Tracy has and chat with other crafty people about what they are working on. For Community Crafters on Saturday, November 16th, join us at our Bruce Johnston Branch at 11:00am to make a felt stocking with Judi. We also have Knotty Knitters on Tuesday, November 26th at our Bruce Johnston Branch from 3:00-7:00pm. Coffee and tea will be provided, plus some goodies to tide you over while you craft away.
We have a great line-up of guests and speakers for our Seniors Community Grant this month. Join us at our Millbrook Branch on Wednesday, November 6th from 1:00-3:00pm for Chat with Jim, a time to socialize and discuss current events. If successful, Chat with Jim will be offered on a regular basis over the upcoming months. We will also be welcoming Vonda (creative memories consultant) back for another Scrapbooking Workshop at our Bruce Johnston Branch on Tuesday, November 12th from 1:00-3:00pm. We will be creating a 12×12 scrapbook page, so please bring 2-5 photos. Vonda will be bringing all the supplies that we will need.
At our Millbrook Branch on Wednesday, November 20th from 1:00-3:00pm, join us for a Lunch & Learn: Downsizing & Decluttering. Adeilah Dahlke (trained professional organizer and owner of Jigsaw Organizing Solutions) will be teaching us tips and tricks to help tackle clutter and keep organized. We will be welcoming back Care Archbold (expressive arts therapist) to our Bruce Johnston Branch on Tuesday, November 26th from 1:00-3:00pm. Care will be facilitating an Art Workshop that focuses on protecting our brain health through creativity.
*All participants need to register for our Seniors Community Grant activities to ensure that we have enough supplies to go around. Please visit our website or call the Millbrook Branch to register.*
