With Spring-like weather approaching (hopefully), Brook Taylor of Taylor’s Recycled Plastic Products is in full swing with production.

Taylor’s recycled plastic products are hand crafted furniture pieces, and are custom made- no 2 pieces are exactly the same.

Brook Taylor, the Owner of Taylor’s recycled Plastic products has been in business since 1990 when he created his first piece.  A carpenter by trade, Brook decided to start creating his own wood furniture on the side from his construction job building houses.   At the time he found a company in Lindsay that was looking for someone to use their material, a recycled plastic.  He started by making 2 chairs, those 2 chairs turned into 4, and so on.

In 1994, Taylor was considering closing the business down all together, but he decided to enter into a Toronto Cottage Show.  His furniture was a huge hit with cottagers.  With this new found business, Taylor started a website and the business exploded.  He has sold his furniture to customers as far away as Singapore and Denmark.  You will also find his furniture throughout the United States as well as in every Province across Canada.

One of the top sellers for Taylor is called the “Cottage Chair”.  This is a chair that reclines and can fold flat for storage over the winter months.  This chair was developed because there was a need for a chair that can be put away in the winter months as cottagers were complaining about theft of the beautifully colored chairs that Taylors produces.

Taylor’s Recycled Plastics does not just create custom outdoor furniture.  When asked for the most unique item he ever created, Taylor said he has had many but one that was memorable was a coffin for a dog!  Taylor can create anything you can imagine. If you come in with a vision, he can help you make that vision a reality.

After speaking with Brook Taylor, one thing is evident.  He is all about keeping money local and supporting local businesses.  This can be seen in his Country Store on the premises.  Here he sells everything from local honey, hand carved paddles to wooden bowls.  He purchases these items from the local artists/suppliers to sell.   His plan is to expand his country store and to be able to sell as many local goods as possible. He wants to keep the money local, support local businesses and also accepts the Kawartha Loon, a local currency, as payment for his products.

Taylor admits that his best experiences have been delivering the furniture to his customers and the amazing people he has met along the way.

You can find Taylor’s Recycled Plastic Products at 581 County Road 28 in Bailieboro or visit his website  at www.taylorsplastic.com.
