A Big Thank You To All The First Responders, Hydro Workers & Community Clean Up Crews

Hydro crews are working their way through the carnage and one can only hope power is restored and will ne sustained across the province as another storm arrives this week.

Ice Storm Emergency Update:

The township of Cavan Monaghan is urging residents to remain vigilant and take precautions in response to the recent ice storm that has caused damage across the community. Icy conditions have resulted up downed trees, danged power  lines and hazardous roads.

Residents are advised to:

  • Stay clear of downed power lines and trees. Treat all wires as live and dangerous.
  • Avoid wooded areas and parks where falling branches or ice may pose a risk.
  • Call 911 immediately if you see arcing or sparking wires from power lines.
  • Limit travel and avoid driving unless absolutely necessary.
  • Stay indoors and monitor local alerts through local media outlets and municipal web page updates.
  • Use flashlights instead of candles to prevent fire hazards during power outages.
  • If you are using a generator only use approved electrical connections and hookups. Always make sure the generator is off while refueling. Never run a generator inside a building or garage.

Cavan Monaghan Township Emergency Control Group members continue to ensure that all critical emergency services and infrastructure remains operational.
