Children’s Programming:
Tim Jeffires (National Touring Museum) will becoming to our Bruce Johnston Branch on Thursday, August6th at 10:30am for his next presentation, “The Dinosaur Detective,” where audience members become the paleontologist. Each stop is an immersive, hands-on experience where visitors can see, touch, and learn about real fossils from the age of dinosaurs.* Please register everyone who will be attending, including parents/guardians.*
We are almost there! Read at least 10 age appropriate library books until Friday, August 7th to take part in our Pages for Slices Pizza Party. We will be meeting at our Bruce Johnston Branch on Saturday, August 22nd at 12:00pm. *Please bring your own water bottle.* Participants must be between the ages of 6 and 18 and must pre-register by Monday, August 10th to ensure that we order enough pizza.
Join Ella at our Millbrook Branch (August 1st) or Bruce Johnston Branch (August 15th) to experience our VR headsets and explore exciting games and immersive experiences. Whether it is your first time or you are already a VR fan, everyone is welcome. There are a variety of time slots available, from 11:00am-1:00pm. Please pre-register.
Due to the success of our Tie Dye activity earlier this summer, we will be offering it again on Thursday, August 27th at 10:30am. Prepare to get messy by wearing older clothes that may get stained by the dye. *Please bring an item of clothing to be dyed.*
Adult Programming:
Technology is easier when you do not have to figure it out on your own. For the summer, our “Borrow a Granddaughter” program pairs you with a friendly staff member for personalized, one-on-one assistance with smartphones, tablets, computers, library services, games, puzzles, and more. Whether you are learning something new or just need a little help, we would love to see you. *Ella is available a tour Millbrook Branch every Friday for 30 minute appointments from 12-4pm.*
Looking for a place to meet new people or socialize with people that you already know? Join Karla and Jim at our Millbrook Branch on the second Wednesday of the month from 1:00-3:00pm to chat about “this, that, and the other thing.” On August 12th, we will be talking about scams and phishing schemes. Scams can take several forms, including social media, e-mail, unsolicited phone calls, and more. We will be discussing how to recognize the hidden dangers, especially with the growth of AI generated material.
