School Council Treats North Cavan Students to Lacrosse Training

Last month, students in grades 2 through 6 enjoyed a 50 minute Lacrosse training session with Curtis Conley of Nationwide Lacrosse.

A substitute teacher in his day job, Conley was well-equipped to communicate effectively with the youngsters who learned skills in handling the equipment.

Fortunately it was a warm, sunny day, and a Friday no less, so students appreciated the opportunity to play outside during class hours to become familiar with Lacrosse equipment which the organization supplied. After fifty minutes the students were not in game shape, but were smiling and offered Conley appreciative high-fives for his efforts.

Nationwide Lacrosse is Canada’s premier lacrosse workshop for elementary schools, where they bring energy, expertise, and inspiration to students across the country. They have more than ten years of experience during which they have delivered more than 1,000 school workshops like this, using them as a vehicle to promote the sport across Canada.

This event was one of several provided by North Cavan School Council parents who through a variety of fundraising events, provide a variety of special events and activities to stimulate students at their school, introducing them to new opportunities where they can develop interests and skills that broaden their exposure beyond those available in regular school programing.
