Summer Intern Joins Baxter Creek Watershed Alliance

By Craig Onafrychuk

The Baxter Creek Watershed Alliance is pleased to welcome a summer intern from Fleming College who will be joining us from May through July on a modest stipend.

This placement will support our growing communications needs as we continue expanding community outreach and public education about the watershed.

Our intern will be assisting with communications, marketing, and graphic design projects, and will also be running a new “Watershed Photo Contest”. Community members of all ages are invited to submit their best photos showcasing the beauty and biodiversity of the Baxter Creek watershed to baxtercreekwatershed@gmail.com. Winning photos will be featured on our website and in our newsletter, and photographers may choose whether or not to have their names published. Part of the stipend for this placement comes from recent project work we completed in partnership with a national biosphere initiative, which provided funding to help us build local capacity.

As we continue to grow, BCWA is recruiting new members for our Board of Directors. We are seeking individuals interested in governance, community engagement, and watershed stewardship. Those interested are encouraged to see the recruitment ad on this page for details on how to apply.
