Millbrook Business Improvement Area Sets Their Calendar of Events

Last week at their Annual General Meeting, members of the Millbrook BIA finalized their events for the upcoming season. This Saturday they are sponsors of the Easter Hunt and Brunch which runs from 10 am until 2pm. The egg hunt will take place around the Mill while the Pancake Breakfast will be served at the Millbrook Christian Assembly.

Next on the agenda is the Annual Kids Fishing Derby on Saturday, April 25 from 8 am until 1pm. For details, see story p 19.

Then comes fun for the ladies, with Girls’ Night Out on Thursday, July 30 from 4 to 9pm. The Peddler’s Wendy Bannerman and Deputy Mayor Ryan Huntley are taking the lead to bring back this popular event formerly called “Ladies’ Night”. Interested vendors are invited to contact the organizers at wendy@north42.com or rhuntley@cavanmonaghan.net

The Fall Festival returns on Saturday, October 3rd from noon until 6pm while Christmas In The Village returns to its evening format running on Thursday, December 3rd under the guidance of Millbrook BIA Vice Chair Kim Blackwell.

The Millbrook Business Improvement Area (BIA) was formed in 1987 and is one of 310 members of a provincial BIA association. It is a not-for-profit organization with the mandate to promote the designated area as a business or shopping destination. BIA’s were established to protect the viability of downtown businesses in the face of competition from large shopping malls which were wooing shoppers away from local downtown retail areas.

Our local BIA members volunteer their time to create and manage festivals like these while operating their own downtown businesses. Supported by the Decorating Committee who create attractive, seasonal displays, BIA members work to bring visitors, shoppers and excitement to the Millbrook downtown core. Thanks for your efforts!
