New Information Guide & Directory Available to Area Residents

“Community Care Peterborough was thrilled and honored to have been a part of this project. Residents of local communities often reach out to their local Community Care office for information, so this project was a natural extension of what we do. The Senior Connectors enjoyed speaking with seniors and helping them find the information they needed and building community.” – Catherine Pink, Director of Operations, Community Care.

Residents and caregivers across the region now have easier access to local programs, services, and support through a free community resource guide. Created in partnership with Community Care, the City of Peterborough, Age-friendly Peterborough and the United Way Peterborough and District, the Information Guide and Directory is designed to help people ages 50 and older navigate a wide range of needs by bringing together practical information and service options in one easy-to-use resource.

The guide is organized around common topics and questions people may have as they navigate different stages of life or changing circumstances. These range from health, nutrition, safety, recreation, volunteering, and many more. The housing section includes information on renting, retirement residences, long-term care homes, housing options for seniors, financial support for housing or home modifications, and home maintenance and moving.

Throughout the guide, readers will also find definitions, explanations, and practical guidance to help them better understand available options. This includes information on independent and assisted living, as well as insights into services such as short-term stays at retirement residences for recovery, caregiver respite, or trial periods

The guide is available in a variety of locations in Peter-borough as well as at the Mill-brook Community Care Office at 22 King St. East.
