Millbrook Figure Skating Club Hosts Local Clubs for Simulated Competition

Fifty figure skaters hit the ice at the CMCC on Saturday, February 21st to compete in a low key event in preparation for upcoming competitions. Members of the Port Hope and Baltimore Figure Skating clubs came to Millbrook where they were divided into groups according to their skating levels and performed their individual skating routines under the scrutiny of friends, family and seasoned assessors.

Each group had the opportunity to warm up together on the ice, then each skater was introduced over the loud speaker and delivered their routines for the appreciative crowd.

After performance for each flight of skaters was complete, participants moved into the studio where they received a medal and a note from the assessors which provided “two stars and a wish”. In other words, they were given two compliments about their performance and a suggestion on an area which could be improved.

Last year the Port Hop club hosted a similar event. Participants appreciate the opportunity to practice their performances under circumstances resembling competitions but with a little less stress.

The event was supported by assessors who provided feedback for each skater, including the former Millbrook Figure Skating club president Shelly Storace, and Millbrook coaches Jody Jones and Melissa Davidson.

The club invites you to their year-end Carnival on Sunday, March 29th at 2:45 pm at the CMCC.
