Inspired by the Jays’ playoff performance last season?
Get involved in our own local league, build your ball skills and have some fun in the Cavan/Millbrook Softball League. This is a mixed youth softball association with teams from Tball, all the way through to U18. The club is part of a Community League which includes teams from Bethany, Pontypool and Janetville.
The season begins on the week of May 11th, and wraps with tournaments at the end of July for groups U9 and U12 and August eight for U15. U6 league games end the week of July 20th.
Home games are played at Maple Leaf Park, and the start time for all league games are 6 and 7 pm.
This year the organization is introducing a new program targeting youngsters ages 3-5. Sessions for these “Little Sluggers” are 45 minutes long and focus on learning basic skills, getting active and building confidence in a positive, supportive environment. It also fosters a sense of teamwork and a love of the game. This program runs on Tuesday evenings from 6:15 to 7pm.
In addition to players, the league is inviting local businesses to support their upcoming season through team sponsorship. Each sponsor is paired with a team, and the sponsor’s business logo appears on the front of the team’s jerseys throughout the season for a sponsorship contribution of $275. The league is also recruiting umpires to supervise evening games at Maple Leaf Park.
