Note of Thanks – February 2026

The Hassell family wish to extend heartfelt gratitude to all the staff at Springdale Country Manor Long Term Care for the 4.5 years of care and attention provided for Clementina (Clem) and Charles (Chick) Hassell. With your care they were able to stay together through declining health to the very end of their lives at ages 94 and 95 after nearly 73 years of marriage. This care required a significant team of dedicated staff including doctors, nurses, PSW’s, administrators and all the support positions (life enrichment, dietary, physio, laundry, cleaning and maintenance) as well as volunteers. On a daily basis your team manages the very diverse, complex and often difficult issues of residents while also providing support to families navigating this journey and you do it with patience, kindness ,respect and compassion and a good dash of humour to help keep up spirits. Most important for us was how you came to know and love these two beautiful people and your tearful goodbyes and remembrances comfort us knowing they were surrounded not just by great care, but by love as well.

We want to express special thanks to Dr. David Van Loon who, as one of the residence doctors at Springdale as well as Clem and Chick’s personal physician, provided the com-fort of continuity of knowledge of their health concerns and assistance in decisions that were required throughout their residence.

We also wish to thank everyone for the many condolence cards, flowers, social media and other contacts received since Clem and Chick’s passing. They deserved and were truly blessed with loving family and friends!

Bob and Deb Hassell
