Local House League Soccer Features New Programs and Family-Friendly Benefits

By Maple Leaf Cavan FC

Maple Leaf Cavan FC has opened registration for its popular House League soccer program, offering local families a fun, affordable, and well-organized soccer experience for the upcoming season.

One of the hallmarks of the club’s House League program is its focus on convenience for families. Players train and play at the same location, on the same night each week, eliminating the need to travel between multiple fields or manage changing schedules. Families can choose to register at either Maple Leaf Park or Crestwood Secondary School.

“We hear all the time from parents how much they appreciate knowing exactly where and when they need to be each week”, says Tiffany Zerf, the volunteer Director of Recreation at Cavan FC, who spends her evenings and weekends continuously improving the hugely successful house league program.

This year, the club is introducing a new U3 program for children born in 2023, designed to introduce the game in a fun, age-appropriate environment focused on movement, confidence, and enjoyment. Maple Leaf Cavan FC also offers House League programming for players born between 2013 and 2022, as well as an adult recreational league for those 25+. Combined with Cavan’s integrated player pathway, children can grow with the sport within the same club from U3 house league into the rep program, all the way into the successful Provincial Men’s or Women’s teams, allowing them to proudly wear the Cavan FC badge for 30+ years if they choose.

In addition, the club is launching a new Grassroots Development Program, an optional skills-based add-on for players registered in House League who are looking for extra development beyond their weekly game. The program will run Friday evenings in June and July at Crestwood Secondary School and is open to players born between 2013and 2020. The eight-session program is led by Cavan FC Technical Trainers and focuses on individual skill development, including ball mastery, confidence on the ball, 1-on-1 attacking and defending, passing, dribbling, shooting fundamentals, and small-sided games that encourage creativity, decision-making, and game awareness. The cost for the full add-on program is only $50.

Affordability remains a key priority for the not-for profit club, which is run by unpaid volunteer board members. Maple Leaf Cavan FC offers a 10% family discount when registering three or more children, helping to keep soccer accessible for larger families, and additional financial support is available for those who qualify – just email president@cavanfc.com to start a strictly confidential conversation.

The House League season concludes with the club’s highly anticipated end-of-year festival, a community celebration featuring free pizza for the players, food trucks, a mega-sized inflatable theme park, games, and custom high-end medals that players are proud to keep. The festival has become a highlight of the summer for many local families and reflects the club’s emphasis on creating positive, lasting memories for young players and a love of the beautiful game.

The club is also inviting local businesses to get involved through its House League Team Sponsorship program. To celebrate the World Cup coming to Canada, businesses that sponsor two house league teams at $250 each will receive a third team sponsorship at no additional cost. Sponsorships help support youth programming while providing meaningful local exposure for businesses to thousands of people.

“House League is the absolute foundation of our club,” said club president Mike Vetzal. “It’s about kids playing with their friends, staying active, having opportunities to move up if they want, and building a strong sense of community around the game. Seeing what the sport has given my two kids over the last eleven years and watching them flourish doing something they love is an incredible feeling.”

Registration is now open, with spots filling up fast. More information about registration, programming, and sponsorship opportunities can be found at www.CavanFC.com or reach out to info@cavanfc.com.
