Peterborough Library’s guest speaker Diana Beresford, a botanist, biochemist and climate change visionary, delivered an outstanding presentation on November 4th. The Millbrook Time’s excellent article about Steve Brackenridge and his riparian zone project in the November edition is right up with her.
Education regarding riparian zones is strongly needed, from my personal experience. Riparian zones act as a filter for precipitation run off into our waterways. Unfortunately, they are often abused. Instances of defoliation of native species, garbage dumped in them or used as personal playgrounds all contribute to the destruction of riparian zone’s role as a priceless ecological water protection system.
Thank you for your most informative article on this very vital project: the restoration of the riparian zone on the Brackenridge property. It is very much appreciated.
