Tis the Season

By Courtney Spence

Although we are closed for a week over the Christmas holidays, we have a lot going on at the CMLibraries this month.

Our Christmas Craft Sale will be available from now until Tuesday, December 23rd at 7:00pm. Most of the Christmas ornaments are 3 for $10, although there are a variety of other Christmas decorations ranging in price from $5 to $25 each. Thank you to our patrons who have generously donated their time to create these beautiful home-made items for us. Proceeds will be going back into the library.

The Millbrook Santa Claus Parade is on Saturday, December 13th at 1:00pm. Stop by our Millbrook Branch anytime between 10:00am-3:00pm to warm up with hot chocolate and make a Christmas-themed craft.

On Tuesday, December 16th, we will be having our version of a Cookie Swap at our Bruce Johnston Branch from 5:30-6:30pm. To make it a bit less stressful, we are asking participants to bring in two dozen cookies. Swap individual cookies with the other participants and enjoy a plethora of delicious treats. *Please bring your own container to take home with you.*

The Harry Williams Room will be closed on Wednesday, December 17th and Thursday, December 18th so that the Millbrook and District Food Share are able to get their Christmas Hampers organized. Children’s toys and books will be available in the main room of the library from 10:00am-5:00pm. Drop-in Kids Crafters will take place between 10:30am – 12:30pm by the computers. We will be making beautiful snowflakes to take home as well as to help decorate the library for winter.

Monthly Programming continues with Coffee & Conversation will be meeting on Wednesday, December 10th at our Millbrook Branch from 1:00-3:00pm. While we normally get together to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and chat about “this, that, and the other thing,” this month we will be discussing supernatural experiences and whether there are logical explanations.

Cook & Tell will be meeting on Friday, December 19th from 1:30-2:30pm at our Millbrook Branch. A group that meets once a month to eat and talk about food, Cook & Tell is basically a potluck with a theme. In December, we are asking participants to bring in baked goods that remind you of the holidays.

The Library closure starts at the Millbrook branch at 1:00pm on Wednesday, December 24th. Both branches of the CMLibraries will be closed from Thursday, December 25th until Thursday, January 1st. See you at our Millbrook Branch on Friday, January 2nd!
