On Saturday, October 25, 2025, 4th Line Theatre hosted a community reminiscence event at the Millbrook Legion.
The morning gathering, led by Managing Artistic Director Kim Blackwell and playwright Lindsay Wilson, invited local residents to share their stories, memories, and photographs related to the Millbrook Jail. The event formed part of the research for Wilson’s upcoming play The Penn, inspired by the history of Millbrook’s former maximum-security facility. Wilson, a local actor and writer with deep family ties to the jail’s history—her grandparents Ruth and David Clark once operated The Penn restaurant on Millbrook’s main street—engaged with attendees to collect first-hand accounts and community history. Blackwell emphasized the value of such reminiscence sin preserving authenticity and grounding 4th Line Theatre’s productions in lived experience. The session reflected the company’s ongoing commitment to developing regionally-based, historically informed Canadian theatre. The event drew over 60 community members eager to contribute to the storytelling process, further strengthening the connection between local history and the creative work of 4th Line Theatre.
