The profile of a soldier standing guard adorns our crosswalk in Millbrook connecting the Legion to the Cenotaph.
A crew from The Line Painting Company came to Millbrook on October 21stto paint the commemorative crosswalk across Allen Lane to connect the sidewalk between the Legion and the Cenotaph. The installation utilized a special paint called Methyl Methacrylate(MMA) which is designed for pavement marking. It has a life expectancy of up to ten years, according to the crew, and despite its thickness it is resistant to snowplow damage. During its application, tiny glass beads are added to the paint which gives it a reflective appearance.
The profile of the soldier and the text was installed using a stencil with the black paint applied over top. The paint dries quickly so traffic could resume within less than an hour of its application. This product is gaining popularity for road markings, parking lots and sports court markings.
