After working for ten years in Bethany, Brian Harris decided it was time to boost his home improvement firm’s visibility with a store front.
His business, Bremkin Home Improvements, is currently renovating a new location on King Street in Mill-brook where he will welcome customers looking to renovate their kitchens, bathrooms and basements, build a new decks or renovate the entire home.
He began working in construction when he was hired by a friend’s father who was generous with his time by training his young staff member. While working full time in the commercial construction industry, he took on residential side jobson his own time and loved it. In 2017, encouraged by his wife, he decided to launch his own construction firm and has never looked back. With a team of seven full time staff and an established relationship with list of reliable subcontractors, Brian and his team take on build and renovation projects from Buckhorn to the GTA. His staff includes two project managers; one focuses on customers in the area east and north of Hwy 115 and the second one who is based in Whitby, serves customers in and around the GTA. On big jobs, they all come together to get the work done.
The local project manager, explains that customers can bring a sketch, some photos or Pinterest images to help articulate their vision. Using design and drafting software, Bremkin staff flush out the project with extensive drawings that illustrate the project details and help customers visualize their options. When they are looking for design inspiration Bremkin has a relationship with a designer to bring some special touches to a project. Staff enjoys creating these special features that use space in a creative but practical way.
In a recent project in Buckhorn, a large, hidden butler’s pantry was created behind a run of kitchen cupboards that is accessed through what looks like cabinet doors incorporated into the kitchen cabinetry.
The new storefront will showcase samples of the kitchen cabinetry the firm sources from one of Canada’s leading cabinetmakers, Divine Cabinetry of Montreal. This will allow customers to see the quality of the cabinets for themselves. Divine uses only German-engineered metal parts for the functional cabinet hardware such as hinges, drawer slides and boxes to ensure the longevity of the moving parts in the cabinets. Visitors to the showroom will also find displays of some of the finishing products the firm uses, such as tile, flooring, countertop materials, deck material, sinks and faucets at the front of the shop. At the rear, Brian’s office will sit on top of a composite deck to showcase another of their service offerings.
The team looks forward to welcoming customers into their new showroom in mid-September, where they will find an expert design/build team that can take a project from concept to completion. Staff are fully licensed and insured, and work closely with qualified subcontractors to ensure all aspects of the project run smoothly with client satisfaction at the forefront.
