Now that the lazy days of summer are behind us and the weather is starting to cool, library staff will be taking the first week of September to pause and reset. Both branches of the CMLibraries will be closed from Tuesday, September 2nduntil Saturday, September 6th.We will see you on Tuesday, September 9th!

For the start of a new school year, we have revamped our children’s programming to take into consideration the busy lives of caregivers and parents. Stop by our Millbrook Branch on Wednesdays for Drop in Kids Crafters, a program that is avail-able from 10:30am-12:30pm.In September, our crafts will focus on back to school and transitioning from summer to fall. Take part in crafts that will help your child learn the colours of the rainbow, creativity, and fine motor skills.

We will also be offering Drop in Kids Corner on Thursdays at our Bruce Johnston Branch from 10:30am-12:30pm. This month, we will play with sounds by making a musical shaker, discuss movement with our paper plate school bus, and discover our sense of touch by making a tissue paper apple.

Family Storytime will be making a comeback this year. Join library staff on Fridays at our Millbrook Branch from10:30-11:00am to enjoy a story and craft. This fall, we will be focusing on new (to us) books such as Sumo Kitty and Dino-Wrestling. Do you have a children’s book recommendation that you think our little patrons would like to listen to? Email Courtney attutor@cmlibraries.cato let us know.

We are very excited to announce that the CMLibraries (in partnership with the Provincial Government) will be offering a variety of workshops for adults and seniors as part of our new Seniors Community Grant. This fall, we have a busy schedule of events that range from crafty activities to Lunch & Learns that get you thinking. Vonda will be coming back to our Bruce Johnston Branch on Tuesday, September 9th from 1:00-3:00pm for a Learn to Scrapbook Work-shop. We will be continuing to host Coffee and Conversation from 1:00-3:00pm on the second Wednesday of the month (Wednesday, September 10th)at our Millbrook Branch. For amore complete list of activities, visit cmlibraries.ca to see what else we have planned.

We are changing the date and location! Cook & Tell, a group that meets once a month to eat and talk about food (basically a potluck with a theme) will be meeting at our Millbrook Branch on the third Friday of the month (Friday, September 19th) at 1:30pm. Participants are asked to bring in a dish that matches the theme of the month, which in September, is zucchini.

We also have a new crafty group that we will be adding to the roster. Stop by the Millbrook Branch from 2:00-4:00pm on the fourth Friday of each month (Friday, September 26th) to craft and chat. Bring a project that you are working on and socialize with other crafty patrons over coffee or tea.
