Touch-A-Truck Returns

Back by popular demand, the fairgrounds on Frederick Street will once again be showcasing vehicles of all shapes and sizes, including police and paramedic vehicles, Firetrucks, UTV’s, construction vehicles and cranes.

Youngsters take full advantage of the opportunity to get up close and personal with emergency vehicles and imposing equipment, clamoring aboard, taking the wheel and sounding horns and sirens to great delight.

This popular, family friendly event is organized by the Millbrook/Cavan Firefighters’ Association in partnership with the Millbrook Agricultural Society. The event runs from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, September 27th, with the first hour of the show featuring a quiet period for those who are sensitive to loud noises. At11 am, the working vehicles will begin to make themselves heard, with horns and sirens sounded by enthusiastic visitors. Admission to the event is by donation.

Proceeds from the event fund good causes in the community. Last year they supported breakfast programs at North Cavan and Millbrook South Cavan Public School. This year the funds will help fund the creation of a memorial installation at the new Cavan Monaghan Fire Hall to honour fallen firefighters from the community.

The event is supported by a wide range of organizations who provide the vehicles on display, including Cavan Monaghan Township and Fire Department, Peterborough County Roads Department, Peterborough Paramedics, Peterborough Police, as well as local farm and construction firms. This year a tank from the Canadian tank museum in Oshawa will be at the show, and organizers hope to have permission to offer tank rides to the public for a nominal charge.

Join members of the Millbrook Cavan Firefighters Association and the Millbrook Agricultural Society as they bring you the opportunity to get a close inspection of a variety of vehicles large and small that help keep us safe in times of emergency, help our neighbours grow crops and our contractors build homes and facilities in our community.

10am to 2pm on September 27th and features a quiet hour from 10 to 11 am.
