MP Jamie Schmale delivered two King Charles III Coronation Medals to residents of Cavan Monaghan. Candidates for these awards are acknowledged for making a significant contribution to the nation, province, region or community that brings credit to Canada. Angela Penello and Robert Taylor were both awarded this prestigious medal at separate events in March.

Angela Penello of Cavan is best known as the energy and work behind Maple Leaf Cavan Football Club. She founded and oversees this volunteer club, and spearheaded the re-incorporating of the club over 15 years ago. She has also led numerous fundraising campaigns to help keep kids in sports while at the same time working to improve local sports fields. In addition to her other commitments, it is estimated that Angela donates well over 1000 hours per year without any personal or financial gain. The community thanks Angela for her tireless work for young soccer players in our community.
