Millbrook and District Lions Club serves the breakfast at Centennial Place to the men members that are able to attend.
This breakfast started about 15 years ago when the Lions Club decided on entertaining some of the male residents at Centennial Place. We have a long history with Centennial Place with fundraising, helping with their BBQ and sometimes sitting with them on a Saturday night watching a hockey game in their main room.
We do the men’s breakfast once a month and is usually attended by up to 8 or 10 residents. Centennial Place designates a room and supplies the food that we cook. The breakfast consists of juice, tea or coffee, toast, eggs and ham. The Lions looks after this and ensures all are fed and assisted with eating when required.
We get to know the men that attend and have developed a friendship. They come from all walks of life and are in their 80’s or ninety’s. They are all interesting and many are from this area, usually retired farmers. In many cases we know their family history and the farms they worked all their lives.
The Lions look forward to this every month and this will hopefully continue in the future.
