Paul Polak has opened Millbrook’s newest Massage Therapy Clinic.
Paul Polak is a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) who completed part of his internship at Cavan Chiropractic, shadowing the physiotherapist and Chiropractors practicing out of that clinic.
Upon completion of his training he was hoping to join their group of massage therapists but there was not enough space to bring him in, so he decided to set up shop in a private space in his home on Anne Street in Millbrook last fall.
This is a second career for Paul, who spent 20 years in the steel industry before deciding to shift gears. He was looking for a career in a clean industry where he had more control over his schedule, there were no more night shifts and he could spend more time with his family. He was certified as an RMT at Fleming College, where he was roughly twenty years older than most of his classmates and worlds away from their carefree life. Listening to their stories of weekend parties and last minute cramming caused him on occasion to cringe, realizing that his daughters might soon have similar thoughts but found solace in the knowledge that he had similar thoughts at that age.
Paul occasionally receives referrals from female therapists for clients looking for male practitioners. Massage Therapy is a career that attracts a largely female audience, and at Fleming roughly 70% of students in the program were female.
His experience and maturity makes him a good listener, which helps him find the best approach for each client. He offers a range of therapeutic services to address pain, help improve mobility, reduce stress and promote relaxation. The objective of each session is to deliver a restorative experience that ensures clients leave feeling better, whether that means they are in less pain or are simply more relaxed.
