Life @ 40

This month I spoke with a forty-year old married man with no children.  He is a very independent thinker and appreciates candid conversations.  He’s happy that X (Twitter) now operates with less censorship, believing that both sides of a story can be found there, whereas other outlets filter and hide content based on an agenda.

He describes himself as an optimistic but skeptical person.  He sees the plethora of information available these days as quite liberating and distrusts centralized institutions which have influenced thinking and behaviour by filtering information to the public.

He believes people today misunderstand their biology and make decisions that conflict with Mother Nature’s rules. That means we should be soaking up as much of the natural light spectrum as possible, both through our naked eyes and skin. Sleep in total darkness, colder the better. Be in contact with the earth often. Eat a seasonal, local diet and drink the same water as all other mammals do. These normal ancestral practices will calibrate our circadian rhythms.

One of the barriers to health in his view is man-made light.  He believes it started with the light bulb but has infiltrated our lives and now it’s everywhere. This has compromised our dinural biology by throwing off our body clock and hormones.  Our light environment sends us messages that confuse our body’s natural day/night cycle and is the main contributing factor to increasing rates of cancer, neurological and heart diseases and lowering life expectancies.

He embraces technology and believes if used wisely, will contribute to a happy and healthier world. He believes the societal burden that is chronic disease will only increase until we choose to tweak our relationship with technology. He is excited for a world with fewer gate keepers and believes the future is now survival of the wisest. KG
