Ethan, Cole, Avery, Jesse, and Samantha Parrington are enjoying the many benefits of small-town living in their new home “on the hill”, including quiet evenings and star-filled night skies.
The Parrington’s were one of the first families to move into one of the new homes in the Highlands of Millbrook development. Arriving in October, they were able to integrate their three young children into classes at Millbrook South Cavan, where they quickly made friends and found activities of interest.
For eleven year old Cole, it was Boy Scouts. With no local scout group, Cole joined the Peterborough club, but his father Jesse is hoping that as more young families arrive there will be enough interest to form a local club.
Ethan joined the Millbrook Novice Hockey team last year, and has trouble taking off his goalie pads even in the warm weather. Fortunately he has found the local Ball hockey league a good outlet for his energy and keeps his skills honed at his Wednesday evening games in the Millbrook arena.
Four year old Avery is enjoying Junior Kindergarten and finds that stimulation enough for the time being.
Parents Jesse and Samantha moved their family from Oshawa in search of a smaller, friendlier town in which to raise their family. A stay at home mom, Samantha is not discouraged by the construction noise during the day, noting how quiet their area is during the evenings with limited traffic and a field beyond their back yard. The family also appreciates the night sky, something that was obscured by city lights in their former community.
The couple learned about the Millbrook development through friends and after looking at alternatives in Lindsay, decided this was the place for their family. Several homes in the development remain vacant and are being rented out by owner/investors who found the real estate market had softened after they committed to their Millbrook purchase. Jesse is philosophical about the timing of their own house purchase. The Parrington’s are here for the long term. The family fully expects to spend the next 20 years in their new home, and looks forward to getting more involved in the community. A competitive hockey player, Jesse hopes to bring his expertise to Millbrook Minor Hockey and help build a local scouting group and Samantha is looking for ways to get more involved at the school.
Welcome to the neighbourhood, Parrington family. We have plenty to show you about your new community that will make you even more glad you came! KG
