On Saturday, May 28th, Kawartha Downs will be celebrating its opening day as well as its 50th anniversary.
Among the scheduled events is a classic car show extravaganza which the Bewdley Lions’ Club is coordinating along with its host and contributed $10,000 for this part of the celebrations. The car show takes place from 10am-3pm at 1382 County Rd, Fraserville, and admission is free to all car registrants (bewdleylionscarshow@yahoo.com for registration) as well as spectators. The event will showcase approximately 250 classic cars. There will also be door prizes, awards, and a DJ. Car show winners will be awarded cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ($3,000, $2,000, $1,000 respectively). Vehicles up to year 2000 are eligible for the competitive event. Organizers expect that opening day will be a great community event, kicking off with the car show, followed by a free concert headlining Kim Mitchell, harness racing beginning at 6pm, and a massive $30,000 fireworks display at dusk!
