4th Line Theatre Seeks Volunteers for 2017 Season

Have you always wanted to act onstage?  Want to be part of an epic outdoor production in your community?  Have you ever wondered how 4th Line productions come to life? Interested in learning new skills and working alongside professional actors, directors and choreographers? 4th Line Theatre is looking for volunteers to perform in its productions of David S. Craig’s Bombers: Reaping the Whirlwind and Robert Winslow’s The History of Drinking in Cavan this summer.

Bombers: Reaping the Whirlwind follows Canadian bomber crews as they struggle to win World War II as told by an elderly survivor as he relives his war time memories with a mysterious young woman. The theatre company is looking for up to seven male volunteers aged 15 or older, up to seven female volunteers aged 15 or older as well as two children aged 8 to 12.

The History of Drinking in Cavan by Robert Winslow looks at alcohol consumption or the lack thereof in the local area over the past 200 years. Robert Winslow and his alter-ego, King, the town drunk, will take audiences on a wild historical ride from the early days of Irish settlement in the township through to present-day drinking practices. For this play the company is looking for two male volunteers, one female volunteer and two children aged 8 to 12.

Auditions and interviews will be held on Sunday, February 26th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at The Baxter Creek Golf Club in Fraserville, 1702 Cedar Valley Road and Highway #28, K0L 1V0. People will be seen in order of arrival. Even if you have limited acting experience but are interested in bringing our region’s history to life on stage, consider auditioning. Previous acting experience is not required.

“Volunteers have been the cornerstone of 4th Line Theatre’s creative activities for 25 years since its inception in 1992,” states Managing Artistic Director Kim Blackwell. “This is where the community and art meet. This is a real opportunity to express yourself, learn and grow and join our team.”

If the limelight does not interest you, 4th Line is also seeking volunteers to assist the front of house staff to greet and seat the audience (and see the shows for free!!), as well as backstage help for makeup and hair, costumes, set and prop painting, running crew and other production tasks.  Come to the auditions, call 705-932-4448, drop into the 4th Line Theatre Administrative Centre and Box Office during business hours or email us at admin@4thlinetheatre.on.ca to apply to be a volunteer.
