4th Line Theatre is pleased to announce an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreted performance of its production of Robert Winslow and Ian McLachlan’s The Housekeeper. ASL Interpreter, Catherine Fairbank will be returning to interpret the performance on Saturday, July 12th, 2025. 4th Line is proud to offer an ASL-interpreted performances as part of their ongoing commitment to accessibility and inclusion.
ASL interpretation allows Deaf and hard-of-hearing audience members to experience the full richness of live theatre—dialogue, music, emotion and storytelling—and understand the show, through the skilled work of professional interpreters.
ASL interpreters translate the spoken dialogue, lyrics and sometimes sound effects into American Sign Language in real time. Fairbanks will be positioned in a visible but unobtrusive part of the stage depending on sight-lines and staging.
When booking tickets through the box office for the ASL-interpreted performance, or if you require any seating accommodations, please let the box office staff know so that the theatre can best accommodate patrons. Deaf or hard of hearing patrons who will benefit from the ASL-interpreted performance will be seated with the best view of the ASL-interpreter. The theatre will also send out a Venue Accessibility Guide prior to the performance date for anyone who requests it.
“It is such an amazing thing to witness Catherine signing a 4th Lineshow,”explains 4th Line’s General Manager Lindy Finlan,“She is such a talented performer in her own right: wonderfully capturing the characters, tone and atmosphere of each scene and providing a valuable service for Deaf and hard-of-hearing patrons.”
