At the November 20th Council meeting, Cavan Monaghan Chief Bill Balfour, pictured right, accepts a $5,000 donation from Janice Page ofEnbridge Gas to support Firefighter Training in the township. Cavan Monaghan is one of fifty Ontario communities receiving similar donations which will be used to purchase educational materials to assist in training fire-fighters in life-saving techniques. The donation is part of Enbridge’s Safe Community Project Assist which was launched in 2012. Since then, the corporation has provided 344 grants to support emergency response training. Cavan Monaghan’s Fire Department manages two fire stations with ten emergency apparatus utilized by sixty professionally-trained volunteer firefighters. The department responds to more than 500 calls for service per year addressing issues including structure fires, medicalcalls and vehicle emergencies. KG
