Two Farmers’ Markets in July – 9th and 23rd

Market shoppers have often requested that we increase the frequency of our monthly farmers’ markets.  So during the prime harvest months of July, August and September, the Millbrook Farmers’ Market is doubling up and hosting two markets per month.

In July, the dates to circle on your calendar are Sunday, July 9th and Sunday, July 23rd.  The market runs from 10:00am to 1:00pm at the Old Millbrook School, 1 Duffern Street, rain or shine.

While this year’s wet and cool conditions have been a challenge for our local growers, come July, our tables will be filling up with fresh delicious produce.  You’ll also find our usual selection of locally raised meats, delicious baked goods, yummy preserves, honey, maple syrup, wine and more.   New on the lunch/brunch menu is fabulous, authentic Mexican food.  Also new this year are a number of very talented, local craftspersons selling their wares.

Entertainment-wise, local favourite Brooke Stewart will be performing July 9th with her stellar brand of classical violin with a modern twist.   A violin player for over 20 years, Brooke has performed orchestral works in Russia and Poland and travelled across Canada performing with Canadian indie-rock band, Hey Rosetta!  On July 23rd, Winona Wilde, a Peterborough-raised songwriter, award-winning vocalist and multi-instrumentalist will play her boisterous brand of alt-country, folk and blues.

Book lovers will be happy to know that the Millbrook Library’s famous book sale will be on during both markets, while the StoryTree for Kids will continue to run on their monthly schedule, the next one happening on July 23rd.

Finally, a reminder to local community groups and non-profits – you are welcome to book a free table at the market for fundraising and/or educational activities.  The market is a great place to get exposure for your organization or cause.  Email us at millbrookfarmersmkt@gmail.com.
