As women, we can think of a number of reasons to celebrate our existence. All humbleness aside, quite simply, it is because we are awesome!!
We are also practical, analytical, sometimes, a little reluctant to indulge in ourselves and we definitely feel the need to justify our actions. The Millbrook BIA’s Annual Ladies’ Night Event provides an opportunity for you and your friends to celebrate your awesomeness. Take a night for you, before you give your nights to everyone else.
Here are 5 reasons that you and your friends should “start the car” and come to Ladies’ Night on Thursday August 4th at 4pm.
Reason Number 1 – It’s the perfect night
Ladies’ Night is always on a Thursday night because it is close enough to Friday that people are getting excited about the weekend but it is not a Friday when all the family and social commitments start. It is an opportunity to forget the chaos and busyness of everyday life and just enjoy great fashion, great music, great food and most importantly – great sales! Fashionistas can take in the annual Oasis Boutique Fashion Show to check out some of the latest styles from Canadian designers.
Reason Number 2 – Save money
This little justification may ease the guilt of spending time away from other commitments in your life. Millbrook has a fabulous selection of retailers in their downtown core, most of whom will be offering great savings as part of this annual event. In addition, there will be a record number of vendors lining the street to broaden the shopping selection that night. If your “to do” list includes picking up items for the house or for a friend, you will probably make a great find at a reasonable price at Ladies’ Night!
Reason Number 3 – Experience human contact
What a concept! In this day and age we are so tied to our phones, Facebook pages, Instagram accounts, Twitter, and text. How long has it been since you had a face to face conversation with someone? Studies have shown that when it comes to communication and understanding one another fully 93% is non-verbal and body language and 7% is written. So ditch your electronics and grab that someone that you really need to check in with and spend an evening in Millbrook. Take in a great meal, do some shopping, listen to the music or just sit and soak up the atmosphere Please note: if you choose to bring your phone with you for photo taking purposes, think carefully about what you want memorialized forever!
This year, the festivities will be hosted by Tribute Artist and Musician Terry Chisholm, otherwise known as “The Man with the Voice”. Chisholm is a remarkably talented performer who pays tribute to a wide range of artists from Elvis Presley to Roy Orbison, the Righteous Brothers and Vince Gill.
Reason Number 4 – To Celebrate YOU
Oprah Winfrey once said that “The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate” In this day and age when everything is moving so fast, taking time to enjoy ourselves or “pat ourselves on the back” can be seen as shameless self-indulgence. Nothing could be further from the truth. Our capacity to love grows with time and resources. The more you put into it the more you get out of it. In other words, the more love we put into ourselves, the greater capacity we have to give out. So you are not shamelessly self-indulging yourself in “stepping out” with the ladies on Thursday August 4th, you are building your love resource capacity!!! There is nothing more incredible than making memories with your best friends. Ladies’ Night gives you the opportunity to laugh until your belly hurts, talk until you lose your voice, dance like no one is watching and then do it all over again!
