Sundried Tomatoes

Corner Office

Kathie Lycett

This recipe comes from a lifelong friend of my mother’s who believed, as I do, in accomplishing at least two jobs under one task, and making it fun. You can put all those ripe tomatoes to glorious use and get your windows cleaned at the same time.

Start by removing the window screens – it’s okay, the bugs are gone.

Spray them with water and scrub them clean.

Slice the tomatoes and spread them artfully over all of your window screens.

Take the screens up to the roof and do the same:  Spread the tomato- laden window screens all over your roof.   This is very entertaining for the neighbours.

Now, while the sun is doing its work, wash the windows.

By the time you are finished with the window washing, it will be raining.  Mother Nature is doing a cleanse.

Now what? Your tomatoes are now globs of red goo oozing through the mesh of the window screens.

Forget about saving the tomatoes.

As for the window screens – think maybe it’s going to be too much work to clean them. They are not worth it – the cat clawed holes in them and the mosquitos were getting in.

Come to think of it – the windows need replacing.  They are inefficient.  Good thing you cleaned them before the window replacement guys show up.  That would have been embarrassing.

And what about those shingles on the roof?  Time to hire a roofer.

Get two jobs done at once, and support the local economy.

Smile, because you can.
