Students – Make Your Own Summer Job!

YES – Notepad & Pen

Applications are now being accepted from aspiring student entrepreneurs by the Peterborough and Kawartha Business Advisory Centre for the 2018 Summer Company program.

Summer Company is the Government of Ontario’s flagship youth entrepreneurship program that connects students ages 15-29 with training, mentorship and funding to start a summer business.

This year, nine grants up to $3,000 are available for young aspiring business owners between the ages of 15-29 from the City and County of Peterborough.  The Summer Company program helps students navigate the business plan writing process and financial management. Throughout the summer, students have the opportunity to take part in workshops and training, covering such topics as: mastering social media; marketing and sales; managing business risk; and networking.

“This will be our seventeenth year delivering the Summer Company program, an amazing program for developing career skills and experiential learning for our region’s youth.” explains Economic Development Officer, Madeleine Hurrell, “Through the program, students receive training, mentorship and funding of up to $3000.”

The deadline for applications is May 19, 2018. This highly sought after program is first-come, first-served and spaces fill quickly. Peterborough & the Kawarthas Business Advisory Centre staff are happy to support aspiring young entrepreneurs with the application process. Those interested in learning more about the program and how to get involved are encouraged to visit www.peterboroughed.ca/summer or contact Madeleine Hurrell at 705-743-0777 ext. 2136. KG
