Kawartha Land Trust volunteers were busy this Sunday clearing away plant growth and debris from an old settler farmhouse in the Ballyduff Trails as part of the Homestead Reclamation Project. Approximately six to eight volunteers gathered to confront invasive plants and uncover the foundation of the old Ontario heritage home. The remains appear to be the basement of the farmhouse as well as parts of a kitchen where antique jars, glasses, and cooking wear were unearthed. Mature trees growing through the basement floor give the dated ruins a visual indication of just how much time has passed since it was built.
