As the 2015/2016 Millbrook Minor Hockey season comes to an end, Ball Hockey comes alive at the Millbrook Community Centre. Ball hockey is fun, exciting, and fast-paced, and the physical benefits of playing the game are enormous.  The House League Ball Hockey season in Millbrook starts on April 18th and runs through to August 16th.

Women play Monday nights starting at 6pm and must be at least 14 years of age to play. Men play Tuesday nights starting at 7pm and must be at least 18 years of age to play. Each team consists of a minimum of 12 players to a maximum of 22. The registration costs this year is $115.00 for an individual player or $1800.00 to register as a team. Each member must wear a CSA Approved helmet, CSA approved gloves and running shoes. If you choose to be a goal tender, you will also require a goalie mask, goalie stick and CSA approved gloves. For Women, a face shield on your helmet is required. For women, the games consist of two 16 minute periods and for the men there are two 17 minute periods.

The teams play in Peterborough league, which last year had 8 Women’s teams and 10 Men’s teams. Millbrook put in their own team and won the Championship game according to Guye Vondette, who is the Referee in Chief and has refereed all games for the past 8 years and has a real passion for the sport.

It doesn’t matter if you are an experienced player or have never played at all, Ball Hockey is a chance to get out and meet new people, have fun and get a great workout. The games are not competitive and non-contact.
