Peterborough County Bursary Awards for Post-Secondary Studies

The County of Peterborough annually recognizes eligible students residing in the County of Peterborough (excluding the City of Peterborough) who have successfully completed Grade 12 and are continuing with post-secondary education. Bursaries are awarded to eligible students who meet the criteria based on the weighted ranking as established by County Council which consider the applicant’s relative financial need, their academic success and the value of other bursaries received by the individual.

The Land of Shining Waters Bursary funds are derived from the interest accrued from investing the proceeds from the sale of the book “Peterborough Land of Shining Waters”. Copies of the Peterborough Land of Shining Waters are available for purchase at the County of Peterborough offices at 470 Water Street, County Court House for a cost of $20.35 plus taxes. The Land of Shining Waters Bursary totals $250.00 to eligible students.

The 4-H Agricultural Scholarship Bursary award is in incremental amounts of $250.00 to a total maximum of $500.00 per year to eligible students. Eligible students are County of Peterborough residents who have successfully completed Grade 12 and continuing with post-secondary education in an agricultural-related field or in a field which can be used in the agricultural industry. A background in agriculture will be considered, including working on the family farm or on a volunteer basis.

County Council will consider the recommendations of the Awards and Bursaries Committee in late June. The successful students will be invited to attend the Regular County Council Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, August 2nd, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. to be recognized.

Eligible students can obtain bursary applications through their secondary school guidance departments, local libraries and local Township offices and on the County’s website: www.ptbocounty.ca . The deadline to receive applications is June 15th. KG
