Nominate Someone Inspirational: County Recognition Award Nominations Open

It’s that time of year again where we identify local groups and individuals who are making extraordinary contributions to our community. The categories are broad, ranging from acts of heroism, entrepreneurial initiatives, and leadership in areas including agriculture, volunteering, sports, culture and environmental protection.

Established in 1992, the County has annually recognized County residents in a variety of categories, including acts of heroism, business leadership and entrepreneurial innovation, volunteer leadership, heritage preservation, environmental or sustainability leadership, sporting excellence and leadership in arts and culture.

In most categories, each township may select a recipient, but awards are unlimited in the heroism department, which recognize individuals whose actions to protect another resident while facing personal risk can be nominated, who were not acting as a member of a protective service staff.

Nominations for Agricultural Leadership are provided to individuals or farm businesses demonstrating innovation, leadership or agricultural promotion that has benefited Peterborough County. There are also awards for leadership in arts and culture and a youth award for someone who has made a significant contribution to their community or school.

The deadline for nominations is March 15th. Nomination forms are available throughout the County at the County of Peterborough offices, from any the Municipal Office, Township Fire Chiefs, schools, libraries, the Chamber of Commerce and Community Care organizations. Nomination forms may also be completed online at the County website www.ptbocounty.ca. Recipients will be celebrated at the annual awards ceremony on Friday, May 26, in the Township of North Kawartha.
