National Volunteer Appreciation at Community Care Millbrook

By Karen Morton

“Where would we be without volunteers?” More than 40 volunteers, several board members, took part in a volunteer appreciation dessert party at the St. Thomas Anglican Church.

Where would we be in Millbrook without our volunteers? They have such an impact not only on the organization, but on the community as a whole. The programs and services offered at Community Care Millbrook would not be possible without the support of volunteer workers.

We currently have 72 volunteer members actively working in various capacities to assist the daily functioning of the organization. That number doesn’t include the members of the board. Positions include administrative, volunteers drivers, blood pressure nurses, distress alarm installers/tester, medical loan convenor, coffee club convenor, diner’s club helpers, New to You Sales people, committee members, friendly visitors, homemakers/maintenance and fundraising.

Nothing is as humbling or gratifying as recruiting and training volunteers. They give so much to the community and only ask for a smiling face in return. Thank you to the Volunteers of Community Care Millbrook.
